Waking up to a bloodbath was not necessarily expected, but definitely exciting as it feels as though the Grammys have caught up to the years of “scammys” allegations due to big snubs and overlooked artists. The nominations for this upcoming ceremony feel representative of 2024 fan culture, but also a little repetitive (for good reason). This will serve as my public vote for the academy to consider. It will only reflect my preferences since it is hard to predict how the Grammys will award these nominations and what they will prioritize for such a competitive year. There are some albums I would’ve liked to see considered, but those will be kept in the Extra section for those curious.
(I will skip some categories for my own peace of mind since it is a long ass list).
Record of the Year
“Now and Then” by The Beatles
“Texas Hold ‘Em” by Beyonce
“Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter
“360” by Charli XCX
“Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish
“Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar
“Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappell Roan
“Fortnight” by Taylor Swift
My Predictions: it will either go to “360” or “Not Like Us.” It is more about the technicalities of a song, and these two seem the most distinct in style and production choices.
Album of the Year
“New Blue Sun” by Andre 3000
“Cowboy Carter” by Beyonce
“Short n’ Sweet” by Sabrina Carpenter
“Brat” by Charli XCX
“Djesse Vol. 4” by Jacob Collier
“Hit Me Hard and Soft” by Billie Eilish
“The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” by Chappell Roan
“The Tortured Poets Department” by Taylor Swift
My Predictions: It is between Billie Eilish and Charli XCX. I would prefer to see Billie Eilish win since her album was so diverse and showed a lot of artistic growth. “Brat” deserves it based on its cultural impact and how it moved music influences towards the electro-pop sphere with just one album. Beyonce also deserves it, of course, but it is a very tight competition.
Song of the Year
“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey
“Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish
“Die with a Smile” by Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga
“Fortnight” by Taylor Swift
“Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappell Roan
“Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar
“Please Please Please” by Sabrina Carpenter
“Texas Hold ‘Em” by Beyonce
My Predictions: It will be Chappell Roan. This category is solely focused on the writing and composition, which is what made this song so unique and attractive when it first came out.

I skipped a lot of categories since I do not get paid to do the research (just yet), and voting on genres I am completely unfamiliar with would disservice the artists due to my lack of research. These are some of my votes and predictions that I will look back to when the ceremony happens and reflect on some of the winners. Regardless, I do not think award ceremonies hold that much power to truly reflect the value of any of these artists and records.
Extra: The SNUBS
Where the fuck is TYLA??????
I am also surprised no Megan the Stallion when she was releasing some consistent great songs
Jack Antonoff not being nominated for producer of the year is also a little interesting since he is working with every popstar these days
Joni Mitchell could’ve also been acknowledged
Also, way too many country nominations IMO
I am also a little offended that Faye Webster did not get any nominations
It would’ve been cool to see the Marias but I am also not very surprised
Mannequin Pussy would’ve also been cool to see if the Grammys had not stuck to the very OG rock bands
Also, Jessica Pratt??? Where is she at????
